Astrid Lubsen

Astrid works as a design researcher at STBY Amsterdam, bringing in her experience with ‘thinking through making’ and her expertise in digital fabrication techniques.

Astrid obtained a MSc degree at the faculty of Industrial Design Engineering. She started her career at Waag Society, working as a user researcher and designer in diverse projects in the fields of health and education. From 2009 – 2011 she lived and worked as a freelance designer in Barcelona. Here she initiated projects and trainings on user driven innovation, amongst others at Citilab and Fablab Barcelona. In 2012 she joined Waag Society again as a concept developer and led the Open Design lab. In 2012 she completed MIT’s Fab Academy course on digital fabrication.
