About sixty representatives, researchers, sociologists and creatives met up at La Boate, in Marseille, to invent tools for tomorrow’s public policies, and imagine the future of the 26 french regions. Orchestrated by the 27th region, this event intended to precede the annual «Congrès des Régions» with a creative push.

Keynote and workshop at Co-Design Live
Bas has been invited to speak at the Co-Design Live conference in Utrecht on 11 December, organised by dr Remko van der Lugt at Hogeschool Utrecht. Bas will deliver a keynote, followed by a workshop on how to use video about or by customers to inspire and inform innovation.

Together with Andreas Sommerwerk (Deutsche Telekom AG) Bas presented the paper “How sticky research drives service design” at the second international Service Design Network conference in Madeira (October 2009).
Adopting rigor in Service Design research
Bas co-authored the paper “Thinking and Doing Ethnography in Service Design” with Fabian Segelström and Stefan Holmlid of Linköping University in Sweden for the IASDR 2009 conference in Seoul, 18-22 Oct.
Spatial planning beyond the city
We were invited to present the work we did for Heartlands (Cornwall) at the annual conference on spatial planning (Ruimteconferentie 2009), organised by the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (Planbureau voor de Leefomgeving) on 3 November.
Service Design workshop in Cambridge
Geke participated in a workshop on Service Design at the HCI2009 conference in Cambridge. The participants had a wide range of backgrounds (service systems, service design, services marketing) which resulted in an interesting exchange of references and perspectives.

Geke van Dijk gave a keynote speech at the CHI.nl conference on 11 June in Leiden. The title was ‘Change: moving on the the next level’. The talk was an appeal to pioneers in the HCI field in The Netherlands to get more involved in Service Design.
Great design for all
Early April we immersed ourselves in Include 2009, the leading cross-disciplinary conference on the inclusive approach to people-centered design and innovation at the Royal College of Art in London.
