Investigations on emerging usage of smart devices

Over the past year we have worked on an extensive series of projects investigating how people make use of ‘ecosystems of smart devices’. We have, for instance, looked into how people make choices on which devices to use in particular circumstances and situations. In many occasions the functionality of the various smart devices people own (e.g. smart phones, tablets, computers, game consoles, in-car navigation devices, cameras) partly overlaps and partly supplements each other, so what to choose when, where and why?

The Web and Beyond

Both Geke and Bas will present at the Amsterdam-based biannual conference on the practice and business of user experience. On 25 September Bas will host a workshop on 'Visual storytelling to inform design'. On 26 September Geke will give a talk about on'Networked collaborations in international UX research'.

Service Design in Tourism

Geke will be presenting at this first international conference on service design thinking in the travel and tourism industry. The conference takes place on 23-24 August in Innsbruck. The topic of Geke's talk is 'Understanding drivers of customer journeys'.

Heartlands Cornwall to open 20-22 April!

Since 2007, STBY has worked with Yanki Lee on Heartlands in Cornwall, a new ‘cultural playground’ and also World Heritage Site near Redruth in Cornwall, UK. Now, after years of preparing and building, Heartlands will open this weekend, 20-22 April.
