The future of anthropology in industry?
Two panel sessions during the EPIC 2008 conference in Copenhagen offered reflections on the positions we have in companies as consultants or employees. How is our work seen and understood?

I visited Anthropogerne.com and ReD during the EPIC company visits. There were a total of about 8 companies participating in this. Great to see Copenhagen has this many entrepreneurs in some sort of design ethnography.
During the conference I attended several presentations on using video in the field. Jonathan Bean, an architect, did research on 'hygge' in Danish homes. Hygge is something beyond cosy and comfortable,
Some of the paper presentations in the morning session of the conference were a bit disappointing. Despite the good stories they had about the people and practices that were the topic of their research, the insights they took from this were often quite thin.
I, Bas, am at EPIC 2008 for the coming three days, and will be blogging now and then from the conference floor. Enjoy and feel free to comment!
