Reading the news on the London tube strikes in The Guardian today, I burst out laughing about an update on an online survey that apparently got a 90% response in favour of a statement they put forward. Looking at how they phrased the question, it is rather obvious how they achieved this:
“With the feckless Tube drivers on strike again today, the question of automating Underground has been raised. Should we allow these Luddites to continue to cause chaos or replace the lazy drivers with robots?”
The blog that featured this survey is called Conservative Way Forward. So maybe I should not be too surprised… Anyhow, this is an outstanding example of what researchers would call a leading question. Something to save for future use in guest lectures with aspiring researchers.
