Naomi is currently forming part of the design research team for STBY’s Amsterdam office. She is a spatial designer with a background in Architecture Design (Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam) and Public Space Design (Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona). She is furthermore involved in the European research project TRADERS. Six (PhD) researchers in the Netherlands, Belgium, UK and Sweden receive funding from the Marie Curie European Union’s Seventh Framework Program. The project aims to develop tools for training future art and design practitioners and researchers to work in participatory ways in public space context, of which each researcher tests and develops a specific approach, being mapping, intervention, play, data-mining and modelling in dialogue. Naomi’s research in Multiple Performative Mapping explores the use of digital mapping technologies as tool/ method for designers to study public space in participatory ways. Secondments in art, design, architectural, creative and public companies form part of the three year’ TRADERS training program. At STBY Naomi will gain more insight in design research and service design, which should help in the grounding of the theoretical part of her research and to implement it in practice.
