Guest lecture at UvA Business School

STBY was invited to give a guest lecture on Design research for Service Innovation at the Business School of the University of Amsterdam. This lecture was part of an international master course on Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

The lecture started with an introduction to our field of work and general approach, but then quickly went into depth on a case study of one of the projects STBY has worked on. To give them some further hands on experience, the students were then divided into small groups, and facilitated by Geke, Marie and Maaike, had one hour to dive into the data we provided them with. They managed to cluster their insights into themes and then brainstorm on potential opportunities for service innovation. Each group presented an outline of their discussion to the rest of the class.

While the role of ‘design researcher’ becomes more common and recognised as a formal position in many different types of organisations, it’s worth reflecting on how we all work and the unique skills and attitudes needed in different settings.
