What do people want technology to look like?

What should a router look like? Cisco recently commissioned a project where STBY examined consumer attitudes towards the design and colour of their routers.

STBY designed a project that would deliver in-depth insights across two markets: the UK, and the Netherlands. They recruited participants from a wide range of backgrounds, each of whom were asked to compile an in-depth multimedia report on where their router ‘lived’ in their home. The insights this delivered were then focused and expanded upon via an in-depth interview conducted with a STBY researcher.

The result was a vivid, evocative report covering every aspect of how people viewed their router. This formed the basis for a workshop conducted with a Cisco design team, in which STBY and Cisco collaboratively explored the potential implications for future router designs.
