STBY have recently hosted interns at both our UK and Amsterdam offices. Though we don’t run a formal internship programme, we’re always interested in hearing from bright, enthusiastic, creative students who want to learn more about design research and service design. This usually takes between 4-6 months, as we like our interns to be involved in all aspects of what we do; once you’re comfortable with the basics, we’ll ask you to contribute to one of our ongoing projects.

If you’d like to know more then send some examples of your work along with a short introduction to mail@stby.eu, and let us know whether you’re interested in interning in Amsterdam or in London. Ideally you should have some background experience in both design and research, but if you think you could contribute in another way then let us know how.

We have recently moved to a new office space in London. We really wanted some more space, and so did Radarstation. And since we are working together more and more on projects these days, as The Global Innovation Group, we thought it would be a great idea to share a studio. We were lucky to have found an excellent space close to Spitalfield Market. As soon as we have settled in a bit, we will of course organise a warm-up party. So you’ll hear from us!

This summer we have moved into a new office in Amsterdam. The office at the Brouwersgracht was getting a bit too small for all the projects and meetings we are involved in. Our partner Spunk, with whom we often do youth-related research in The Netherlands, kindly offered us a part of their huge and beautiful studio facing the main waterside of Amsterdam (see picture). We couldn’t say no!

So now, when we are in The Netherlands, we often enjoy the lively and witty conversations of the Spunk youth dropping in for editorial meetings. On the more quieter moments, we enjoy the fantastic views on the boats and warehouses along side het IJ . Both are very inspiring.

Behind me on the wall of our Amsterdam office is a large picture of New York, with the WTC still in place. So if you Skype me, you can have a great view!

Our new address in Amsterdam for visitors is: Van Diemenstraat 410, studio 1.23, Amsterdam 1013 CR-NL. Our telephone numbers and email addresses are still the same. So no worries there.
For (snail) mail we still use the old address (Brouwersgracht 127, Amsterdam 1015 GE-NL), as this is where the company is registered.
